Changes at the Top - Ian Fretten Steps Down

On the 31st December 2012 Senior Partner Ian Fretten will retire from Frettens Solicitors, nearly 35 years to the day from when he opened the doors of the office for the first time in 1978.

The firm has seen many changes over the last 35 years but has retained, through Ian’s leadership and energy, a focus on property work and on providing a friendly, efficient and proactive service to its clients. The firm continues to grow and move forward with the recent acquisition of an office in Brockenhurst to add to the existing New Milton and Christchurch offices. Read more about Frettens history.

Ian says “I would like to thank each of the dedicated staff who have worked with me through the years and of course all the agents and clients who have supported us. I wish the firm continued success; it is poignant to officially hand over the reins, but I am certain that Frettens Solicitors remains in very capable hands. I look forward to spending more time in France, on the golf course and in the garden!”

Matthew Fretten, Ian’s son and the firm’s Commercial Partner, will become Managing Partner at Frettens, with effect from the 1st July. Ian will remain a Partner until he retires in December 2012, working closely with the firm’s other 6 partners.

Matthew says “The firm is embarking on a new era but we will continue to work to the same ethos and service standards that we have always strived for. I am very excited about the future and I hope to build upon the significant foundations built up over the last 35 years.”

David Walton, Conveyancing Partner at our New Milton office, will take over from Ian as Head of the firm’s Residential Conveyancing Department. Helen Jones, Conveyancing Associate, will assume a new role as Head of Conveyancing in Christchurch, with responsibility for the day to day running of the Christchurch based teams.

Finally, some other members of the team have been promoted to recognise their hard work, achievements and additional responsibilities. Charlene Rimmer, has moved to the firm’s Brockenhurst office to take overall responsibility for Conveyancing work from that office.

Leanne Lewis has been promoted to Conveyancing Executive and Victoria Dacombe has been promoted to Paralegal; both Leanne and Victoria work with David in New Milton.

Kaitlin Stone has moved to our Christchurch office and we also look forward to welcoming a new member of staff, Ros Keenan, who has been appointed to join the Christchurch conveyancing team later in July to assist Helen.
