Government confirms one year cap on unfair dismissal awards

Last week the draft The Unfair Dismissal (Variation of the Limit of Compensatory Award) Order 2013 was laid before parliament. The order limits the compensatory award in an unfair dismissal case to the lower of £74,200 or 52 weeks' pay. At the moment only the £74,200 limit is in force.

The exact commencement date is not known, but it is expected to be as early as July 2013, so the change may have even come into force when this article reached you.
