The Frettens Quiz for Autism Wessex

  • Posted

On Wednesday 25th June, Frettens hosted a football themed quiz night at the Goldsands Stadium in aid of Autism Wessex. Teams from many local businesses including 4 from Frettens represented the 32 nations through to the football finals in Brazil. All the teams were encouraged to dress appropriately for their chosen nation and a prize was given to the best dressed on the night, which were Allied Facilities representing Mexico. We were really pleased with the amount of effort that people put into their costumes which made the room extremely colourful and really added to the fun atmosphere.

The quiz ‘kicked off’ with a Flags and Leaders picture round, Music and Anthems, Geography and Film and TV rounds and all questions were relevant to the nations taking part. At Half-Time, refreshments were served including the traditional orange slices!

The Second half saw rounds on Football (of course!), Languages and General Knowledge. Mobile phones were strictly forbidden and several yellow and even a red card were given for infringements! Our social committee comprising of Laura Balmer, Christine Chant, Helen Jones, Heather Varley and Charlene Rimmer were the referees for the event.

At the final whistle, Saffery Champness (Ecuador) were crowned winners with 89 points out of a possible 139, followed by Rund (Chile) with 80 and HSBC (Costa Rica) with 78.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening with a fantastic total of over £1600 being raised for our Charity of the Year Autism Wessex. A big Thank You to all those who took part and kindly donated to the raffle draw.
