Richard Barnard

As the firms Compliance Officer for Finance & Administration, Richard is responsible for the firms’ finance function which also encompasses compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.

Work

Richard joined the Firm in October 2010 as Practice Accounts Manager and is responsible for the smooth operation of the accounts function.  His role encompasses monthly financial reporting, cashflow management and strategy analysis, as well as overall responsibility for a brilliant team of Legal Cashiers and Accounts Administrators.

Compliance overall is a key factor of Richard’s role, but especially in relation to the Solicitors Accounts Rules, it’s focus on client money and its correct treatment.  Also, the protection of Client financial information and the Policy surrounding the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard is a critical responsibility and one that Richard treats with the significance it deserves.

Play

Richard is very much a family man and enjoys spending time with his wife and children when they are home from University.  

Weekends in North Dorset where he lives, usually means a country walk with a pub and real ale at the end of it. 

Richard also enjoys cooking and a really good novel, especially horror and fast pace thrillers.  He also enjoys writing and is proud to be a member of an exclusive club (1% of the world’s population) who have written a novel, as yet unpublished.
