Minimum wage increase 2018

The National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Regulations 2018 have been laid before parliament.

Increases to the national minimum wage

They provide for the annual increase to the minimum wage and national living wage with effect from 1 April 2018. The changes are as follows:

  • 25 and over - £7.83 (previously £7.50)
  • 21-24 - £7.38 (previously £7.05)
  • 18-20 - £5.90 (previously £5.60)
  • Under 18 - £4.20 (previously £4.05)

The accommodation offset

Chris Dobbs, Solicitor in our Employment Team explains "The accommodation offset will be £7.00 per day. The current accommodation offset is £6.40 for each day - midnight to midnight. You must make the accommodation available to the worker in a pay reference period, up to a maximum of £44.80 a week."
