Promotion for our Solicitors

Frettens are delighted to share the news that some staff have been promoted and others are progressing through their journey to qualifying as a solicitor.

Dispute Resolution Solicitor Carl Geary and Family Solicitor Andrew Stynes have both been promoted to Associate status at Frettens.

Carl joined Frettens in 2005 as a paralegal and completed his training contract to qualify as a solicitor in 2010. He has specialised in all types of dispute resolution and litigation since that time, developing particular expertise in property related matters and  a particular interest in helping clients who are either a landlord or a tenant and involved in a dispute concerning residential or commercial property. He is also currently completing the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists qualification as he and his colleagues work on a number of disputes over wills and inheritances.

Andrew joined Frettens in 2014 with vast experience in all aspects of family law. This includes divorce, separation and the financial matters which arise from this, as well as disputes over children, such as contact issues. Andrew is also trained as a collaborative lawyer. Collaborative lawyers work with clients, their partner and their partner's lawyer, in a series of face to face negotiations, to help to resolve family disputes and reach an agreement outside of court proceedings.

Matthew Fretten, Managing Partner, says “We are delighted to promote both of these solicitors to Associates, marking an important step in their respective careers. The promotions recognise their considerable achievements, hard work and experience within their specialist sectors, as well as their growing individual reputations within the local business community. Both Carl and Andrew are excellent lawyers and valuable assets to our team.”

Two other members of our team, Amy Leung and Holly Doick are also progressing on their path to qualification as a solicitor. Both have completed a law degree and the Legal Practice course, as well as working within our firm as Conveyancing Executives to gain experience. They have both been awarded training contracts by the firm to recognise their potential and develop their careers. Amy is half way through her two year training contract, having completed 6 month periods within the Conveyancing and Commercial Property Teams and she now moves to the Family Team for her third "seat". Holly has completed her first 6 months within the Conveyancing Team and is now moving to the Employment Team for her next stage of training.

The firm wishes each member of staff the best of luck in their new roles and looks forward to watching their continued development.
