Paul is a Solicitor in the Corporate & Commercial team and will be providing advice and support on a wide range of commercial and company transactions and contracts. He is part of a team of six giving the necessary resources for a very wide range of transactions.
Work
After qualifying with a London firm, Paul was a Partner in the Company & Commercial team at another local firm for over 30 years. Having decided that retirement was not for him, he has joined Frettens to continue his involvement with corporate law.
Paul finds his job very challenging and never boring – every situation, client and transaction is different. He has to develop a specific knowledge of the client’s business and the legal or regulatory background for it.
Experience
- Dealing with a range of complex company reorganisations and demergers, including large property owning or farming companies, wishing to split their activities.
- Acting on the acquisition of a number of builders’ merchants businesses and supplier on behalf of a large national company.
- Acquisitions and disposals of care home businesses and companies operating care homes for a large national care homes operator.
- Advising housing associations on bulk acquisitions or disposals of housing stock.
- Sales or purchases of professional firms, including insolvency practitioners, veterinary surgeons, financial services companies and legal and accountancy practices.
- Purchase or sale of large garden centre businesses and the related property and ancillary franchises and businesses.
- Forming trading subsidiaries for large charities.
Play
Paul has a wide range of interests including classical music and opera, art, literature, museums and antiques, gardening two gardens, the usual travelling, various handicrafts and walking the dog.
