Matthew Fretten on Richard

Matthew Fretten is Managing Partner at the firm, here's what he said about the addition of Richard to the team:

“Richard is a great addition to our growing commercial property team and is a welcome addition to the Ringwood team.

Personable, pro-active and client-focused, Richard will be a great asset.”

Richard's Background

Richard has recently joined our Ringwood office as a solicitor in our commercial property department, having trained and worked at local and national firms.

Before Frettens, Richard worked as a solicitor dealing with both residential and commercial property transactions and prior to this, he acted for lender clients at a large firm in Bristol.

Richard's Expertise

Richard has a wide variety of knowledge in different areas of property law, such as:

  • Acting for landlords and tenants across the UK to draft, review and negotiate commercial leases.
  • Dealing with new builds, splitting the title to sell the existing property and providing suitable advice on issues such as rights for shared services and Land Registry compliant plans.
  • Assisting clients to obtain a sale by remedying historic issues which required a deed of variation and retrospective licence for alterations.
  • Investigating title on high value purchases, providing advice to the client and explaining the covenants which affect the property.
  • Providing advice to clients regarding the implications of security of tenure for business leases.

Alongside legal advice, Richard also considers the ‘bigger picture’ which helps him provide the right advice to his clients to find the best way forward.
