Frettens Pledge to Wessex Cancer Trust

Frettens Solicitors in Christchurch have pledged their support to The Wessex Cancer Trust and nominated the organisation as their ‘charity of the year’. Four of the firm's partners are pictured sporting Daisies - to represent the charity's logo.

The firm’s initial commitment is that, throughout 2008, Frettens Conveyancing Department will donate £2.50 for every house sale or purchase that the department handles. As the Department handled an average of 300 residential property transactions per month in the last year, this could potentially raise a total of £9,000 for this excellent cause during 2008. The firm are also inviting each conveyancing client to match their donation. Those that agree to take part will simply have £2.50 added to their final bill, which the firm will pass on to The Wessex Cancer Trust, possibly doubling the final total donation.

Frettens Commercial Property Partner, Oonagh McKinney, explains the firm’s decision to support The Wessex Cancer Trust in this way, commenting "Frettens usually makes a considerable number of charitable donations to a variety of local good causes. This year, we thought we would appoint just one charity to support to hopefully make a greater impact to one good cause. We were struck by just how many people in our region are affected by cancer and impressed with the scale of the work that the Trust undertake, providing help and support to patients and their carers as well as providing major research grants to improve treatments. It is an extremely worthwhile cause and we have several further fund raising plans in mind for the future."

Frettens has also organised a casual dress day for the first Friday of every month, asking their staff, which number just under 100, to make a voluntary donation for this privilege.
