Simon is a highly experienced family lawyer with almost four decades of legal practice, advising clients on divorce, financial settlements, children matters both traditionally and as a mediator and Collaborative lawyer.
Having qualified in Bournemouth, Simon spent many years practising across the South before joining Frettens in 2018 to establish and lead the Family team in Ringwood. His expertise was recognised with promotion to Partner in 2021. Earlier in his career, he worked at a respected Southeast law firm, representing high-net-worth individuals in complex family disputes, including many matters heard in the Principal Registry in London.
Simon is committed to helping clients resolve disputes constructively wherever possible. He is a trained Collaborative Lawyer, supporting couples through face-to-face negotiations to reach practical agreements without court proceedings. He is also a Family Mediator, offering mediation by Microsoft Teams, in person, or through shuttle mediation where appropriate.

Simon has extensive experience advising clients in complex and high-value family law matters, including:
- Acting for a director-shareholder of a long-established international family business in relation to the treatment of business assets, property interests, pensions and the preservation of non-matrimonial wealth.
- Representing an international finance professional based overseas in a complex children matter involving cross-border contact arrangements.
- Resolving high-value financial proceedings through the collaborative process, including cases involving substantial family trust structures and multi-million-pound assets.
- Acting for a father in a long-running children dispute involving allegations of parental alienation alongside associated financial claims.
- Successfully advising on the termination of a lifelong spousal maintenance order.
- Acting for a father of young twins who had been taken to another part of the country by their mother and the father was granted residence of them
Outside Work
Away from the office, Simon enjoys exploring North Dorset with his energetic dog. A proud Leicestershire native, he remains an enthusiastic follower of rugby, although these days he prefers the role of commentator rather than participant. He is also an avid fiction reader and an enthusiastic amateur cook.
