We are starting our fundraising for this year with a bang! When the gun goes off to start the Rotary Easter Quarter Marathon on Saturday 4th April, Team Frettens will be there at the start line ready to run the 6 mile race around Southbourne, starting and finishing at Boscombe pier.
This year, we are fundraising for Macmillan Local; Macmillan Caring Locally is a small local charity which supports the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital. The Macmillan Unit is a specialist palliative care ward built in 1974 and was the first of its kind in the country.
Their funding supports 16 in-patient beds at the Macmillan Unit Christchurch, a 15 person Day Centre, 9 Macmillan Nurses who look after up to 350 patients living at home in our local community, and 3 Macmillan Nurses who support patients at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Every year there are more than 1,100 referrals to the Macmillan Unit.
