The new legislation for shared parental leave, due to come into effect on 1st December 2014, has now been published. The new rights will be applicable to parents for babies due on or after 5th April 2015. However, due to premature births, they may actually be used from sometime in January 2015 and employers need to get up to speed with them.

The new legislation is horribly complex and employers will need to ensure they understand them. We discussed the new rights briefly at our training event earlier this month, but will be covering them in a lot more detail in our February event.
