We are delighted to welcome a new partner, James Hammersley to the firm.

James becomes the 8th new partner at the firm in the last three years after a period of rapid growth and a series of promotions and new arrivals.

James is an experienced solicitor with a great reputation and will head up Frettens’ Wills, Tax and Trusts Team in our Christchurch office.

Matthew Fretten on James’ arrival at the firm

Matthew Fretten, Managing Partner at the firm, said: “James is a fantastic addition to Frettens and joins us at a really exciting time.

Both James’ Department and the firm as a whole are bigger and busier than they’ve ever been after a period of growth that only seems to be continuing.

Attracting a new partner of his expertise and experience is a real coup for us and, I believe, shows how we are now seen as a genuine alternative to the large regional firms in the area."

Continued growth in the leadership team

Matthew continues: "It is always great to get a fresh set of eyes in the leadership team, especially as so many of our partners have been promoted from within and been with the firm for some time.

In James and Lee we now have two extremely experienced and technically excellent partners heading up our Wills and Tax teams in Christchurch and Ringwood. I’m really looking forward to seeing where they take the department.”

Lee Young's thoughts on James

James will be working closely with our other Wills & Tax Partner Lee Young, who currently resides in our Ringwood Office.

Lee said: “James and I have worked in the same area of law in the same conurbation for some time, so I have long been aware of his reputation as a fantastic lawyer.

Immediately, he will be able to help our increasing volume of clients with complex and technical cases. However, the more exciting part of his role will be working with the leadership at the firm to help us to build and develop a bigger team.”

James’ Experience in Trusts & Planning

James joins Frettens from a large regional firm, where he was a partner and head of team. As well as advising clients on wills, powers of attorney and probate, he can also advise on technical tax and estate planning matters.

“It’s a great time to be joining Frettens. The impressive recent growth at the firm is reflective of their ambition and I can’t wait to get started.

I’m looking forward to building on some of Frettens’ excellent relationships with Wealth Managers and IFAs in the conurbation, to help provide clients with better tax and estate planning advice.

I’ve been made to feel extremely welcome from the outset. There is a real collegiate feel about the place and everyone seems to get along really well.”
